Note that many websites have their own advertising, unrelated to adware.
Adware is any software application in which advertising is displayed while the program is running. The authors of these applications include additional code that delivers the ads, which can be viewed through pop-up windows or through a bar that appears on a computer screen and sometimes through text links or in integrated search results. Adware may or may not track personal information. It may also gather information anonymously or in aggregate only. Users should check the EULA and Privacy policy to ensure if the adware on their machines conforms to their standards. |

ClickTheButton is described as a price comparison service. It detects when you are visitng a known shopping site and provides sponsored links to competitor sites. It runs as a process on startup (ctbclick.exe) and installs a number of extra DLLs. ClickTheButton downloads parts of advertising pages when you visit a new web site. When a complete advert has arrived it will be displayed, usually as a pop-up or pop-under window |

Open the Task Manager, and kill the 'ctbclick' process. Delete 'CTB3_Shared' from the Windows directory. Delete 'CTBHooks.dll' from the System directory (WINDOWS\SYSTEM or WINNT\System32). Load regedit and delete the value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ClickTheButton.
If you like, you can also remove the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\CTB_BrandedClient, and every class in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT that begins with 'CtbClient', 'CtbSession', 'CtbShopper' or 'CtbXML'. There are a lot.
